Adox FX-39 II – Black & White Film Developer
Adox FX-39 II is one of the most carefully crafted black and white film developers ever created, representing the final evolution of the FX series developed by the legendary Geoffrey Crawley. Drawing on over 40 years of expertise in traditional photographic chemistry, Crawley refined Willi Beutler’s Neofin Rot formula to produce a developer that delivers exceptional compensating effects, tonal range, and image sharpness.
FX-39 II is a compensating developer, allowing photographers to control contrast and tonal rendering through dilution. While it delivers outstanding sharpness, it is not designed for those seeking the absolute finest grain. It excels with modern emulsions such as Ilford Delta 100/400 and Kodak T-Max 100/400, and is also highly effective with classic films like Ilford FP4 and HP5.
Originally marketed by Paterson, the formula transitioned to Adox with Crawley personally overseeing production, ensuring that the integrity and performance of his creation was maintained. FX-39 II is a true specialist developer and a must-have for enthusiasts seeking maximum control over black and white tonal qualities.
Typical dilution: 1:9 – 1:19
