Flic Black, White & Green, offers a vitamin C based developer with very low environmental impact
Brand new to the market, from Canadian manufacturer Flic, this developer offers great economy, with the 250ml concentrate capable of processing approximately 50 rolls of film. The environmental credentials are clearly a draw for many customers, but whilst most black and white developers do not have a significant environmental impact anyway, it’s nice to know this product is especially friendly to our waste systems. the Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) developing agent is supported by Phenidone which is also low toxicity. The carrier is an alkaline solution often found in hand cream and a PH balancer in shampoo.
One of the big advantages of this product, aside from the environment, is the long shelf life – unusual for B&W developers, and it’s high concentration which gives great economy – normal dilution is 1:49, mix and throw away as a one-shot. Development times for Kodak D76 1:2 are a good starting point, but, as with all B&W development, photographers inevitably fine tune development times to their own preferences.
Classified as a all rounder fine grain developer. The name is a cheeky play on it’s green credentials!
