35mm 36 exposures
Fomapan 200 Creative is the only black and white film available rated at ISO 200: feedback from customers, and through our own tests, suggests that this film performs well at 200, but superbly at 125 or 100, delivering excellent shadow detail. However it is also possible to push this film to 400 if required, although we always advise pushing any film only if absolutely necessary. Fomapan 200 delivers visible grain in moderate enlargements, especially from a small negative like 35mm, but it has a lot of character and is reminiscent of older style black and white emulsions from the mid 20th century. As with other Foma films, this would be a great film to use exclusively for a time and really get to know well – we always advise customers of the benefits of working this way for a time, especially anyone new to film, and particularly new to black and white film. Once you get to know a particular film well you establish a benchmark against which it becomes much easier to judge other film types. We also advise sticking to the same developer and development method, thus reducing the variables, or, if you use a commercial lab to process your film, stick to the same lab and make sure they have a very consistent process and approach to development. At Ag our black and white line produces great all round results from Fomapan 200 and we operate within very strict parameters for consistency – if you are interested in our lab services when you come to process your film, you can view our black and white processing page here.
