Ilford MG Art 300 is a completely unique type of fibre based black and white photographic paper.
Released as a completely new product in 2012, it features a 100% cotton rag base, following a collaboration between Ilford and German paper mill HAHNEMÜHLE – more commonly associated with artists’ papers and high end fine art inkjet media, they worked with Ilford to come up with a very special paper base that would remain intact when wet – a pre-requisite for traditional photo paper – but was made from cotton rag, rather than the the baryta base more normally associated with traditional fibre based B&W paper. The result is a paper with a delightful surface texture and a degree of sheen – there really is nothing else like it available either now or even in the past.
- It features a multigrade emulsion for contrast control with multigrade filters in the usual way.
