ILFORD MICROPHEN is a fine grain film developer which gives an effective increase in film speed whilst retaining much of the grain characteristics associated with fine grain developers. MICROPHEN is particularly useful when using extended development times to push process fast films such as HP5 Plus, Delta 400 Professional, Delta 3200 Professional and SFX200.
This 1L pack is a powder for mixing with water to make 1L stock solution. Once you have done this, you can use as stock, and then re-use on future films, extending the development time as it is re-used (see the data sheet); OR the stock can be used diluted 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 and used as a 1 shot (throw away the diluted stock after developing) – this is our preference because it avoids the need to recalculate times as the stock solution and makes mistakes less likely. But it’s personal preference – test or read up on the effects of different dilutions.
