Ilford PAN-F Plus 50 is a traditional, ultra-fine-grain black and white film with an ISO speed of 50. Originally introduced in the 1930s, this slow-speed film is ideal for capturing exceptional detail, making it a favourite among landscape, architecture, and still-life photographers who demand maximum resolution and tonal depth.

PAN-F excels in well-lit conditions and rewards careful metering and processing. However, it is less forgiving than modern emulsions and requires consistency in exposure and development to achieve optimal results. For this reason, it’s better suited to experienced film photographers or those willing to shoot it extensively and learn its characteristics.

Due to its slower speed and vintage formulation, it has a shorter shelf life than other Ilford films and should be stored carefully. Once exposed, it should be processed promptly to avoid latent image degradation.
