Ilford Washaid is a high-quality liquid hypo clearing agent (HCA) supplied as a convenient concentrate, designed to be diluted 1:4 for use. This essential darkroom chemical significantly speeds up the washing process for both fibre-based photographic papers and black and white film, helping to save time, water, and effort while ensuring all residual fixer is completely removed.

Proper washing is critical for the longevity and archival stability of negatives and prints, and Washaid ensures thorough removal of potentially damaging fixer residues. It works best at temperatures between 18–24ºC, with multiple water changes recommended, and the addition of a wetting agent in the final rinse is advised for optimal results.
