The Kenair Hurricane Blower is a really useful tool for any darkroom or where there is any handling of negatives, transparencies, enlarger negative carriers, camera or enlarger lenses, camera film chambers etc. – the list of uses where there is a need to blow away dust and even small pieces of grit, is endless in the world of photography, analogue or digital. The product features a double valve system that produces a powerful jet of air for blowing dirt, dust, and fluff. A squeeze of the rubber bulb will produce a controlled blast of air to clear away any debris on sensitive surfaces.
A note on film chambers in cameras: we see a lot of film scratching caused by grit and similar that has become lodged inside cameras. The film is pulled across hard surfaces in the typical camera and so this can lead to scratching. Dirt and grit can enter the camera during lens changes or film changes. The problem can be intermittent. The Hurricane Blower is really useful to reduce this risk.
Large Format Photography
This product is also extremely useful when loading double dark slides for large format photography – anyone who has shot with this sort of equipment will be able to testify to the annoyance of a piece of dust sat on the negative at the time of exposure – a black mark or dot on the resulting print or scan is the result – this is extremely difficult to rectify on a print and can not be spotted easily. When you load the film in a dark bag, or wherever (although dark bags are notorious for harbouring dust) have the Hurricane Blower in the bag and give a quick blow off the face of the film just before carefully inserting the dark slide.
