Kodak Portra 800 is the fastest film in the Portra lineup, offering an ISO 800 speed with the signature natural tones and wide exposure latitude that Portra is known for. Its ultra-high speed makes it perfect for low-light photography, fast-moving subjects, or handheld shooting in challenging conditions—while still delivering rich colour and beautifully rendered skin tones.

Though grain is more noticeable than in Portra 160 or 400, many photographers choose Portra 800 specifically for its slightly grittier aesthetic and characterful rendering, particularly in 35mm. It also has a subtly different look, being based on an earlier generation of Kodak’s emulsion technology.

Portra 800 can be downrated to ISO 400 with no change in processing, improving shadow detail in brighter conditions. It’s a flexible, expressive film that excels in real-world scenarios—from nightlife to documentary, portraits to reportage.
